Dublin-based hospitality workforce and operations software company Alkimii has received a private equity investment from UK lower-mid-market investor August Equity, in a deal that will fund the acceleration of its go-to-market strategy, new product development, and expansion across the UK and Europe.
FinSMEs reported that the deal, the amount of which was not disclosed, marks August Equity's twelfth investment in Ireland and supports Alkimii's continued growth following its establishment as the dominant hospitality workforce platform in the Irish market, where it now reaches more than 50 per cent of all hotel employees.
Founded in 2015 by Ronan McAuley and headquartered in Skerries, Co Dublin, Alkimii serves more than 55,000 users across Ireland, the UK, and Europe. The company employs over 50 professionals and operates a technology hub in Malaga, Spain. Its platform covers three core product areas: People, covering workforce and HR management; Property, covering operations management; and Insights, covering analytics and benchmarking.
As part of the investment, enterprise technology veteran Henry Seddon has been appointed as corporate chair. Seddon said the company's market position and management team were central to his decision to join. He said: "In a short time Alkimii has developed a market-leading product with strong customer relationships in Ireland alongside a talented management team. I am excited to work with both August and Alkimii to accelerate its expansion and support the next stage of its growth."
Ronan McAuley, CEO and founder of Alkimii, said the investment validates the company's service-first model and positions it for international scale. He said: "Alkimii began with a simple belief: that the people who run hospitality deserve tools as good as the service they give their guests. We're a service-first company, I'm as proud of the team who look after our customers as the team who build the product, and we never stop modernising it, bringing new AI to make our operators' lives simpler."
Katie Ballardie, investment partner at August Equity who led the transaction, said the platform addresses day-to-day operational challenges that are critical to hotel management. She said: "Ronan has built a compelling offering, grounded in strong industry insight, that addresses critical day-to-day operational challenges for hospitality operators. We see significant potential to grow Alkimii in its core hotel and hospitality market, while also expanding into international markets and new customer segments."
