Amazon has raised the minimum starting pay for frontline operations employees in Ireland to €17.10 per hour, effective 27 September 2026, giving HR and reward teams in retail and logistics a fresh benchmark for entry-level pay competitiveness as the company recruits for more than 200 new roles in Dublin.

Amazon operates a fulfilment centre and two distribution centres in Dublin, with the fulfilment centre alone now supporting more than 700 roles following the addition of 200 jobs during 2026.

The strategic logic extends a deliberate multi-year pay escalation rather than a one-off adjustment. Starting pay has risen from €13.50 in 2022 to €17.10 in 2026, an increase of approximately 27%, placing the rate €2.95 above the National Minimum Wage and €1.70 above the Living Wage, well ahead of statutory increases over the same period and reinforcing a sustained gap over the mandatory floor rather than a single catch-up adjustment.

Darragh Kelly, Amazon's regional director for Amazon Logistics in the UK and Ireland, said the pay increase reflects the company's continued commitment to investing in the people who make Amazon work for customers every day. He said Amazon is proud that starting pay in Ireland has increased by approximately 27% since 2022, and that adding free Prime membership alongside existing benefits gives the company one of the most competitive total compensation packages in the sector.

For the first time, eligible frontline employees will also receive free Amazon Prime membership, valued at €69.90 annually, alongside existing benefits including a pension plan, employee discount, flexible shift options and the fully funded Career Choice tuition programme, which covers 100% of tuition fees for nationally recognised courses regardless of whether they lead to a career at Amazon.

For the sector, the move signals continued upward pressure on entry-level pay benchmarks in logistics and retail operations, likely prompting competing employers to reassess both starting pay and non-cash perks to remain competitive for frontline recruitment.
