Dublin HR tech firm Wrksense targets North America expansion with AI recruitment platform

Dublin-based HR technology company Wrksense is set to scale its presence across the United States and Canada over the next 12 months, as the Enterprise Ireland-backed firm targets mid to large-size enterprises that hire more than 500 people per year. The expansion positions the company as part of a growing cohort of Irish-founded HR tech firms bringing AI-driven recruitment solutions to global enterprise clients.

The Business Post reported that Wrksense was founded in 2023 by Andrew Connolly and Ruaidhrí McDonnell, has a team of ten employees, and has secured €825,000 in funding to support its growth ambitions. The company currently operates across eight countries, most recently launching in Trinidad and Tobago, and maintains an office in Canada alongside its Dublin base.

Connolly said: "We build intelligence layers for large enterprises to leverage AI in their HR teams. Essentially, these are AI recruitment solutions that help remove administration and speed up the process to get people hired faster."

He described the platform as a human-in-the-loop process, noting that the system facilitates faster decisions without replacing human judgement. Connolly added that AI has enabled additional candidate-facing benefits, such as allowing applicants to ask logistical questions outside the formal interview process without requiring human responses each time.

Connolly, who spent 13 years in recruitment before co-founding Wrksense, said the core hiring process had never fundamentally changed prior to AI becoming a practical reality. McDonnell joined from a technology background, having previously worked at eShopWorld and Cubic Telecom.

The company's North American push is being led from Toronto, where Connolly is largely based. Enterprise Ireland has been credited as a key enabler of the firm's international growth, providing early credibility and facilitating introductions to enterprise clients across global markets.
