Lithuania promotes corporate travel links with Ireland

A Lithuanian trade mission led by the Klaipėda Chamber of Commerce has concluded a three-day visit to Dublin, positioning the Baltic state as a new destination for Irish tour operators and corporate travel planners. The programme ran alongside the Holiday World Show and included B2B workshops, a reception at the Lithuanian Embassy and bilateral meetings with Tourism Ireland executives.

In a report by VisaHQ, the delegation showcased Lithuania’s expanding wellness and cultural tourism offer, highlighting spa destinations such as Druskininkai and Birštonas, as well as UNESCO-listed sites including Vilnius Old Town.

Additionally, improved air connectivity was also emphasised, with Ryanair operating four weekly services from Ireland to Kaunas, supporting short-haul travel and group itineraries.

Irish outbound travel continues to rebound strongly. According to CSO data cited during the visit, outbound travel from Ireland is now 9% higher than in 2019. Lithuania views Ireland as a high-value, English-speaking market that can help diversify demand beyond its traditional visitor base in Germany and Poland.

For Irish businesses, the initiative introduces a practical option for off-site meetings, leadership gatherings and employee wellness retreats within a three-hour flight. Destination management companies are already developing four-night ‘culture & cold-plunge’ packages designed for executive wellbeing and team-focused programmes, offering an alternative to higher-cost Western European destinations.

Visa-free travel for Irish passport holders simplifies access, though organisers advised tour operators to remain mindful of passport validity requirements, upcoming ETIAS rules and documentation needs for multi-country Baltic itineraries.

VisaHQ’s Ireland portal was highlighted as a tool that provides compliance checks and visa support for onward travel to neighbouring non-Schengen markets.

Looking ahead, Lithuania’s tourism board confirmed that follow-up familiarisation trips for Irish operators are planned for spring.
