Reward Gateway | Edenred has launched Engage, a mobile-first employee app within its EngagementOS platform that brings workplace benefits, recognition, wellbeing and communications into one service, giving HR and reward teams a route to lift usage of programmes that frontline staff often cannot easily reach.
Reward Gateway | Edenred is an employee engagement and HR technology provider working with 6,000 companies globally and supporting 10 million employees across recognition, reward, wellbeing, surveys and benefits.
The strategic logic targets the access gap rather than the benefits themselves. Employers have expanded their benefits and engagement tools, but access often remains spread across several systems, making programmes harder to find and use, particularly for frontline and deskless workers. Engage is intended to reduce that fragmentation by combining discounts, recognition tools, wellbeing support and company communications in a single mobile app.
The structural driver is fragmented access and email dependence. In-app registration lets employees activate accounts on their phones rather than relying on a work email address, while multi-factor authentication has been added as a security measure.
A Goals & Challenges tool lets employees set personal goals and join team activities linked to wellbeing and recognition. It is designed to encourage more regular participation in workplace programmes, while an AI assistant helps users find information across benefits, savings, wellbeing resources, company communications and support content. A separate AI Recognition Coach helps employees write recognition messages.
The launch follows the company's analysis of nearly 1,700 UK organisations, which found employees generated £336 million (€390 million) in savings through employee programmes over the past year.
Joe Walsh, managing director UK at Reward Gateway | Edenred, said: "Ultimately, access drives usage, usage drives engagement, and engagement drives value."
Walsh said businesses already invest significantly in benefits, recognition, wellbeing and communications, but risk them going unnoticed if they are not easily accessible.
For the sector, the launch reflects a shift in employee engagement technology from adding programmes to improving access and participation, with mobile-first design and AI assistance aimed at workers outside the office.
