Worcestershire County Cricket Club has named Danton HR & Training its official HR partner, formalising a relationship built over recent seasons, giving HR teams in sport an example of external HR support focused on culture and working practices.

Danton HR & Training, founded in 2011 and based in Bromsgrove with an Edinburgh office, provides outsourced HR, HR audits, and contracts and policies, plus training including its six-month Managing People Fundamentals programme, which is approved by the Institute of Leadership.

Worcestershire County Cricket Club is a professional county cricket club based at New Road in Worcester, which has described the agreement as strengthening its growing network of commercial partners.

The strategic logic formalises an existing working relationship. Danton has worked closely with the club and its management team in recent seasons, building an understanding of the organisation and its people.

Duncan Roke, director at Danton HR & Training, said the time spent with the club over the last couple of years had built strong relationships and a real understanding of the organisation and the people behind it.

Rich Sugden, head of finance at Worcestershire County Cricket Club, said he is confident the partnership will bring significant benefits to the club as it continues to grow and develop on and off the field.

The structural driver is organisational growth. Danton will help develop the club’s workplace culture, management practices and employee engagement, with a focus on strengthening people management and leadership capability.

The relationship grew from match sponsorship, according to the club’s partner video, and Danton also fielded a team in the Worcester Street Sixes charity tournament in aid of the Worcestershire Cricket Foundation.

Danton supports clients across the employee lifecycle, from HR advice and compliance support to fully outsourced HR solutions and management training.

Participants in Danton’s Managing People Fundamentals programme receive a year of free Institute of Leadership membership, according to the firm’s accreditation announcement.

For the sector, the appointment shows a sports club formalising an HR relationship that began through sponsorship, with people, culture and working practices as the agreed focus.
