Canadian enterprise AI and data management company OpenText has announced a €105 million investment in Ireland that will create 400 high-skilled roles across its Cork and Galway operations over the next three years, in a development that intensifies demand for specialist AI, cybersecurity, and cloud talent in the Irish labour market.

Cork Beo reported that the investment, described as the single largest in Ireland by a Canadian-headquartered technology company, doubles OpenText's existing commitment to the country and was announced in Dublin alongside Taoiseach Micheál Martin TD and Michael Lohan, CEO of IDA Ireland.

The company currently employs 275 people across its Cork and Galway sites, with the majority based in Cork. The 400 new roles will be concentrated in software development, research, and digital operations, supporting the company's expansion in agentic AI, sovereign cloud, and cybersecurity capabilities for EMEA markets.

OpenText is establishing a new Cork Centre of Excellence for EMEA as part of the investment, with Irish-based developers and researchers set to design, deploy, secure, and operate AI and cloud capabilities for clients across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

Shannon Bell, executive vice president, chief digital officer and CIO of OpenText, said the expansion was driven by client demand for trusted, regionally anchored AI infrastructure. She said: "Organisations across Europe are looking for trusted partners that can help them deploy AI securely, govern it responsibly, and operate with confidence across increasingly complex digital environments. This investment expands our EMEA R&D and operations capacity to deliver the trusted AI, cybersecurity, and cloud capabilities our clients already rely on globally, while giving European organisations greater regional support and flexibility across the cloud environments of their choice."

Michael Lohan, CEO of IDA Ireland, said the nature of the roles created was particularly significant. He said: "Particularly welcome is the creation of high-skilled roles across two regional locations, which highlights the depth of talent available throughout the country."

Taoiseach Micheál Martin said the investment reflects the strength of the Ireland-Canada economic relationship. He said: "It reflects the strength of our longstanding relationship and will help create new opportunities for innovation, trade and high-value job creation between our two countries."
